Nurse Coordinator:
Informatics Nurse Job Overview: The Informatics nurse provides
on-going user education and support and informatics support for
various teams and committees throughout the facility. The Informatics
nurse position provides facility vision and direction for computer
systems, process design, data management and related processes.
The informatics nurse serves as a liaison between the facility
and the Clinical Information System IT team to communicate user
needs and facilitate system modification to meet user needs. ***Preferred
Informatics nurse will have previous experience with clincial
computer system implementations*** Responsibilities of the Informatics
Nurse Coordinator: 1. Informatics Nurse coordinates the development,
delivery, and evaluation of clinical staff education related to
the Clinical Information Systems. Informatics Nurse coordinates
the training provided during new employee orientation to support
competency of new users in their use of the Information Systems.
Informatics Nurse Develops and delivers on-going user education
and communication to maintain user competency. Informatics Nurse
coordinates and leads the planning and delivery of conversion
education in the deployment of new technology and system upgrades.
2. Informatics Nurse maintains on-going user support structure.
Informatics Nurse provides opportunities for users to verbalize
concerns and suggest potential improvements related to the use
of the information systems. Informatics Nurse evaluates the impact
the information systems have on daily user workflow. Informatics
Nurse coordinates work with users and the Information Technology
department to resolve conflicts between workflow and the information
systems. Informatics Nurse supports staff to use technology in
a manner which promotes maintenance of patient safety and confidentiality.
3. Informatics Nurse coordinates and facilitates on-going information
system evaluation including: user accuracy, data integrity, and
system reliability. Informatics Nurse develops and implements
action plans as needed to support user accuracy, data integrity
and system reliability. Informatics Nurse participates in post
implementation change evaluation and supports users in maintaining
changed processes 4. Informatics Nurse participates in interdisciplinary
and process improvement teams to identify potential future uses
of the information systems and potential improvements in the current
use of the systems. Informatics Nurse serves as a nursing informatics
resource, to individuals and teams throughout the facility.
